Autoprinter vs PrinterCo
Does PrinterCo print Shopify orders automatically? Yes: its own Android or Windows app prints each order as a ticket on a thermal receipt printer as soon as it's placed. Autoprinter prints automatically too, and covers packing slips, invoices and Shopify shipping labels as well as receipts, each on the printer that matches its paper.
PrinterCo Automatic Printing, by PrinterCo System Ltd, is aimed at restaurants and local delivery. Its app on an Android device or a Windows PC, or one of its own Android terminals with a built-in printer, prints each new order as a ticket on a supported thermal receipt printer, and its Windows app also prints to A4 desktop printers. It adds restaurant tools such as accepting or rejecting orders, kitchen and customer tickets, sound notifications, end-of-day reports and order updates for customers by SMS or email.
If you run a takeaway or cafe and want each online order as a kitchen ticket, PrinterCo may be all you need. If you also pack and ship orders, with packing slips, invoices and labels each on their own printer, that is what Autoprinter is for.
Facts as of October 25, 2026
Why choose Autoprinter over PrinterCo
- Zero-click shipping labels. Buy a label in Shopify as usual and it comes out of your label printer, with no print dialog.
- Every document an order needs, together. The Print Chain prints each order's packing slip, invoice, return slip or gift receipt in one go: automatically, or from the order's More actions menu with Auto Print Chain.
- Labels, sheets and receipt rolls, each on its own printer. Letter, A4, 4 × 6 labels and 80 mm or 58 mm receipts go straight to the printer that matches.
- The right document for each order. Print Rules choose which template prints, and on which Print Station, for each order.
At a glance
| Topic | PrinterCo | Autoprinter |
|---|---|---|
| Shipping labels | Not described Its listing tags shipping labels as a document type; printing the labels you buy in Shopify is not described in its listing or documentation. | Yes Zero-click. Buy a label in Shopify, click Print shipping label as usual, and it comes out of your label printer with no print dialog. Needs Google Chrome with the Autoprinter Chrome Extension; you keep buying labels in Shopify. |
| Print Chain | Partly Each order prints as a ticket, and kitchen and customer tickets can print separately. | Yes Every document an order needs prints together, each on its own printer: automatically, or from the order's More actions menu with Auto Print Chain. |
| Documents | Order tickets and receipts, including separate kitchen and customer tickets, and end-of-day sales reports. Its listing also tags invoices, packing slips and delivery notes, which its site doesn't describe separately. | Packing slips, invoices, pick slips, return slips and gift receipts. Sample templates add sales receipts, kitchen tickets and pickup slips. |
| Printers and paper sizes | Thermal ESC/POS receipt printers over USB, Bluetooth or Ethernet, from an Android tablet, a Windows PC or its own terminals, and A4 desktop printers from a Windows PC. Its own PCO58S handheld terminal prints on 58 mm paper; other paper sizes are not described. | Straight to your printers, on the right paper. Prints to any printer on a Windows or macOS computer through the Autoprinter Desktop Utility, or from your browser. Paper sizes are Letter, A4, 4 × 6 in thermal labels, and 80 mm or 58 mm receipt rolls, and the paper size decides which printer gets each document. |
| Choosing a document per order | Not described Choosing a template by order details is not described. Its Unlimited plan routes orders to different printers, for example by branch or vendor. | Yes Print Rules choose which template prints, and on which Print Station, for each order. A rule can match more than 15 order details, such as sales channel, tags, SKU, product collection, fulfillment location, ship-to country and order total. |
| Automatic printing | Yes Its app prints each order as soon as it's placed, at once or after you accept it, and must keep running in the background or on a dedicated device. Other triggers, such as paid or fulfilled, are not described. | Yes When an order is placed, paid or fulfilled; you pick the trigger and turn it on in Settings. Shopify Flow can print on other order events, such as a cancellation. |
| Templates | A receipt builder with no code: font sizes, bold text, a logo and which details to show. HTML or Liquid templates are not described. | No code needed. Built-in templates you adjust with switches and drop-downs, plus 30+ sample templates. Custom templates in HTML and CSS with Handlebars-style variables. No limit on the number of templates, on any plan. |
| Bulk printing | Not described Not described in its listing or documentation. It prints each order as it arrives, and any previous order can be reprinted. | Yes Select orders in the Shopify orders list and send their documents to your printers, or open one combined preview and print it from your browser. A pick slip covers up to 50 orders. |
| Print history and alerts | Partly Reprint any previous order, see in its app whether your printer is offline, hear a sound for new orders, and manage printers remotely from its MyPanel dashboard. Its release notes for its own terminals (2021) list SMS alerts when the printer is offline; Shopify-specific availability is not explained. | Yes Know when printing stops. Print History lists the documents queued for your Print Stations, with each job's status. Autoprinter warns you when a Print Station stops picking up jobs, and a Shopify Flow trigger can run when a Print Station goes offline. |
| Document languages | Partly Its PCO58S terminal lists 11 languages; document languages on its Windows app and other printers are not described. | Yes Six languages built in. Built-in templates print in English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch or Italian and lay out addresses for each destination country. Dates and prices follow the region you choose on every template. The app's own screens are in English. |
| Shopify Flow and Sidekick | Not described Not described in its listing or documentation. | Yes Works with both. Six Flow actions print an order's Print Chain, packing slip, invoice, return slip or gift receipt, or one pick list for your open orders. Four Flow triggers run when a document prints, a print fails, a Print Station goes offline or you near your monthly order limit. Sidekick answers questions about your order allowance, your printers and what printed. |
| Orders split across locations | Not described Its Unlimited plan routes orders to a printer for each branch or vendor. Splitting one order's tickets by fulfillment location is not described. | Yes One packing slip per location. An order split across fulfillment locations gets a packing slip for each location, listing only that location's items, or one set for the whole order if you pack in one place. |
| Shopify POS | Its website lists Shopify POS among its platforms without describing what prints. | In-store POS sales print automatically on a Windows or macOS computer at the store (not on the POS device, phone or tablet), for example a kitchen ticket on a receipt printer, with each location's tickets sent to that location's printer. Automatic printing can skip them instead. |
| Printing documents yourself | Yes You can print orders yourself and reprint previous orders from its app. | Yes Printing from your browser needs nothing installed: open an order, choose Print → Autoprinter, pick a document, and print the preview like any web page. |
"Not described" means PrinterCo's App Store listing and documentation, cited below, don't mention it. It is not a statement that PrinterCo can't do it. Every other PrinterCo fact comes from those pages.
When PrinterCo is enough
- You run a takeaway, cafe or local-delivery shop and want each online order as a kitchen ticket the moment it's placed.
- You want to print from an Android tablet or a Bluetooth printer, or use a ready-to-use terminal with a built-in printer instead of a computer.
- You want restaurant tools in the same app: accepting or rejecting orders, sound notifications, customer SMS or email updates and end-of-day reports.
When Autoprinter fits better
- You pack and ship orders, and want packing slips and invoices to print by themselves when an order is placed, paid or fulfilled.
- You buy shipping labels in Shopify and want them to come out of your label printer with zero clicks.
- You print on more than one kind of paper. Sheets, 4 × 6 labels and receipt rolls each go to their own printer.
- You want Print Rules to choose a different template for each order, or built-in templates in six languages.
Autoprinter and PrinterCo: common questions
Autoprinter works with the printers your Windows or macOS computer already uses, and every feature is on every plan, including Free.
-
Does PrinterCo print Shopify orders automatically?
Yes. Its Android or Windows app prints each order as soon as it's placed, on a thermal receipt printer or, from Windows, an A4 printer, and the app must keep running. Autoprinter prints the documents you choose when an order is placed, paid or fulfilled, with nobody pressing Print.
-
Can PrinterCo print packing slips and shipping labels?
Its listing tags packing slips and shipping labels as document types, but its site doesn't describe them; it describes order tickets, kitchen and customer tickets, and end-of-day reports. Autoprinter prints packing slips and invoices automatically, and prints the shipping labels you buy in Shopify with zero clicks.
-
Can Autoprinter print kitchen tickets and receipts?
Yes. Sample templates add kitchen tickets, pickup slips and sales receipts on 80 mm or 58 mm receipt rolls, and in-store Shopify POS sales print automatically, the same as online orders. A Windows or macOS computer at the store does the printing, not the POS iPad or phone.
-
What happens to orders when my computer is off?
Jobs wait in Print History and print when the computer is awake and the Desktop Utility is running again. If a computer stops partway through a job, the job goes back in the queue after five minutes and can be picked up again. After a long outage, a waiting job's document or label link can expire before it prints. Autoprinter warns you when a Print Station stops picking up jobs.
-
What do I need to install to use Autoprinter?
Install the Autoprinter Desktop Utility on a Windows or macOS computer to print straight to your printers, automatically or in bulk. It prints to any printer that computer can already print to; keep it awake while you print. Shipping labels also use the Autoprinter Chrome Extension in Google Chrome. Printing from your browser needs nothing installed.
-
Is Autoprinter free?
Yes, for up to 50 orders a month sent to your printers, with every feature and no card needed. Printing from your browser never counts. Paid plans start at $10 a month for 500 orders.
