Autoprinter vs Invoice Falcon
Does Invoice Falcon print orders automatically? Its listing and help center describe no automatic printing: its help center says to use your browser's print dialog. Autoprinter prints them for you, sending packing slips and invoices to your own printers as orders come in, and prints Shopify shipping labels with zero clicks.
Invoice Falcon prints and exports PDF invoices, quotes and packing slips for orders and draft orders. Templates can be edited in a visual editor, in HTML and Liquid, or with an AI editor on paid plans, and it makes German ZUGFeRD e-invoices.
If you want full control of your invoice templates and print them yourself, Invoice Falcon may be all you need. If you want printing to happen without you, that is what Autoprinter is for.
Facts as of October 25, 2026
Why choose Autoprinter over Invoice Falcon
- Prints by itself. Packing slips and invoices print when an order is placed, paid or fulfilled, with nobody pressing Print.
- Zero-click shipping labels. Buy a label in Shopify as usual and it comes out of your label printer, with no print dialog.
- Every document an order needs, together. The Print Chain prints each order's packing slip, invoice, return slip or gift receipt in one go: automatically, or from the order's More actions menu with Auto Print Chain.
- Labels, sheets and receipt rolls, each on its own printer. Letter, A4, 4 × 6 labels and 80 mm or 58 mm receipts go straight to the printer that matches.
- One packing slip per location. An order split across fulfillment locations gets a packing slip for each location, listing only that location's items.
- Your brand, already filled in. Autoprinter picks up your Shopify logo and colors when you install it, and Re-sync from Shopify pulls in later changes.

Its help center says to use your browser's print dialog; its automation emails a PDF invoice when an order is created, with rules for payment, fulfillment and delivery status and customer tags. | Yes The documents you choose print by themselves when an order is placed, paid or fulfilled, with nobody pressing Print. You pick the trigger and turn it on in Settings. |
| Shipping labels | Not described Not described in its listing or documentation. | Yes Zero-click. Buy a label in Shopify, click Print shipping label as usual, and it comes out of your label printer with no print dialog. Needs Google Chrome with the Autoprinter Chrome Extension; you keep buying labels in Shopify. |
| Print Chain | Not described You print yourself; the template set as the default for orders, or for draft orders, is picked for you. Printing every document an order needs together is not described. | Yes Every document an order needs prints together, each on its own printer: automatically, or from the order's More actions menu with Auto Print Chain. |
| Orders split across locations | No Its help center says the packing slip lists every item in one table, without grouping by fulfillment. | Yes One packing slip per location. An order split across fulfillment locations gets a packing slip for each location, listing only that location's items, or one set for the whole order if you pack in one place. |
| Printers and paper sizes | The PDF opens in a new browser tab and you print it with your browser's print dialog; it also appears in Shopify's Print menu on the order page. Paper sizes are not described. | Straight to your printers, on the right paper. Prints to any printer on a Windows or macOS computer through the Autoprinter Desktop Utility, or from your browser. Paper sizes are Letter, A4, 4 × 6 in thermal labels, and 80 mm or 58 mm receipt rolls, and the paper size decides which printer gets each document. |
| Choosing a document per order | Partly Picks the template set as the default for orders or for draft orders, and you can switch template for an order by hand. Rules based on order contents are not described. | Yes Print Rules choose which template prints, and on which Print Station, for each order. A rule can match more than 15 order details, such as sales channel, tags, SKU, product collection, fulfillment location, ship-to country and order total. |
| Templates | A visual editor, an HTML and Liquid code editor, and an AI editor on paid plans. You create, edit and delete your own templates, and a default packing slip template is included. | No code needed. Built-in templates you adjust with switches and drop-downs, plus 30+ sample templates. Custom templates in HTML and CSS with Handlebars-style variables. No limit on the number of templates, on any plan. |
| Bulk printing | Yes Select orders across pages and print them as one PDF or a ZIP of separate files, built in the background, with an email when it's done; one bulk action runs at a time. | Yes Select orders in the Shopify orders list and send their documents to your printers, or open one combined preview and print it from your browser. A pick slip covers up to 50 orders. |
| Print history and alerts | Partly Icons on each order show whether it was printed, downloaded or emailed, and a bulk actions page lists every bulk job with its progress and failed orders. Printer alerts are not described. | Yes Know when printing stops. Print History lists the documents queued for your Print Stations, with each job's status. Autoprinter warns you when a Print Station stops picking up jobs, and a Shopify Flow trigger can run when a Print Station goes offline. |
| Document languages | Yes Invoice labels follow the customer's locale; one help article says 26 languages and another says 23. Product names aren't translated. | Yes Six languages built in. Built-in templates print in English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch or Italian and lay out addresses for each destination country. Dates and prices follow the region you choose on every template. The app's own screens are in English. |
| Documents | Invoices, credit notes, quotes, pro forma invoices, draft orders, packing slips and refunds, plus German ZUGFeRD e-invoices. | Packing slips, invoices, pick slips, return slips and gift receipts. Sample templates add sales receipts, kitchen tickets and pickup slips. |
| Shopify POS | Its listing says you can bulk print documents from Shopify admin and POS; a POS printing guide is not described. | In-store POS sales print automatically on a Windows or macOS computer at the store (not on the POS device, phone or tablet), for example a kitchen ticket on a receipt printer, with each location's tickets sent to that location's printer. Automatic printing can skip them instead. |
| Shopify Flow and Sidekick | Not described Not described in its listing or documentation. | Yes Works with both. Six Flow actions print an order's Print Chain, packing slip, invoice, return slip or gift receipt, or one pick list for your open orders. Four Flow triggers run when a document prints, a print fails, a Print Station goes offline or you near your monthly order limit. Sidekick answers questions about your order allowance, your printers and what printed. |
| Printing documents yourself | Yes Open the PDF in a new browser tab and print it with your browser's print dialog, from the app or Shopify's Print menu on the order page; bulk jobs make one PDF or a ZIP. | Yes Printing from your browser needs nothing installed: open an order, choose Print → Autoprinter, pick a document, and print the preview like any web page. |
"Not described" means Invoice Falcon's App Store listing and documentation, cited below, don't mention it. It is not a statement that Invoice Falcon can't do it. Every other Invoice Falcon fact comes from those pages.

Autoprinter and Invoice Falcon: common questions
Autoprinter works with the printers your Windows or macOS computer already uses, and every feature is on every plan, including Free.
-
Can Invoice Falcon print orders automatically?
Its listing and help center describe no automatic printing: its help center says to use your browser's print dialog, and its automation emails PDF invoices. Autoprinter prints the documents you choose when an order is placed, paid or fulfilled, with nobody pressing Print.
-
Can I use my Invoice Falcon templates in Autoprinter?
Custom templates use HTML and CSS with Handlebars-style variables such as
{{order.name}}, not Liquid, so a template written in Liquid for Invoice Falcon needs changes before it works in Autoprinter. Or start without code: built-in templates are set up with switches, and 30+ sample templates are ready to install. -
Does Autoprinter print a packing slip for each location of a split order?
Yes. Each fulfillment location gets its own packing slip listing only its items, and a Print Rule can send it to the Print Station at that location. The invoice still covers the whole order, and a split order counts once toward your monthly orders. If you pack every order in one place, choose one set per order instead.
-
What languages can Autoprinter documents print in?
Built-in templates print in English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch or Italian and lay out addresses for each destination country. Dates and prices follow the region you choose on every template. Custom and sample templates keep the wording you wrote, and the app's own screens are in English.
-
What do I need to install to use Autoprinter?
Install the Autoprinter Desktop Utility on a Windows or macOS computer to print straight to your printers, automatically or in bulk. It prints to any printer that computer can already print to; keep it awake while you print. Shipping labels also use the Autoprinter Chrome Extension in Google Chrome. Printing from your browser needs nothing installed.
-
Is Autoprinter free?
Yes, for up to 50 orders a month sent to your printers, with every feature and no card needed. Printing from your browser never counts. Paid plans start at $10 a month for 500 orders.
