Autoprinter vs Avada PDF Invoice
Does Avada PDF Invoice print orders automatically? Its listing and documentation describe no automatic printing: you click the printer icon on an order and print the PDF that opens. Autoprinter prints them for you, sending packing slips and invoices to your own printers as orders come in, and prints Shopify shipping labels with zero clicks.
Avada PDF Invoice, by Avada, is a PDF invoice generator and order printer with e-invoicing and B2B wholesale features. It makes invoices, packing slips, refunds, pro forma invoices, credit notes and quotes, supports Peppol, ZUGFeRD, Factur-X and XRechnung e-invoices, and its documentation says documents can print in 70+ languages chosen by billing address.
If you print invoices yourself and need e-invoicing or B2B wholesale invoicing, Avada PDF Invoice may be all you need. If you want printing to happen without you, that is what Autoprinter is for.
Facts as of October 25, 2026
Why choose Autoprinter over Avada PDF Invoice
- Prints by itself. Packing slips and invoices print when an order is placed, paid or fulfilled, with nobody pressing Print.
- Zero-click shipping labels. Buy a label in Shopify as usual and it comes out of your label printer, with no print dialog.
- Every document an order needs, together. The Print Chain prints each order's packing slip, invoice, return slip or gift receipt in one go: automatically, or from the order's More actions menu with Auto Print Chain.
- The right printer for every document. Each template's paper size picks the printer, so sheets, 4 × 6 labels and receipts each go to their own, on one computer or several.
- The right document for each order. Print Rules choose which template prints, and on which Print Station, for each order.
- Your brand, already filled in. Autoprinter picks up your Shopify logo and colors when you install it, and Re-sync from Shopify pulls in later changes.

Page sizes are A4, Letter or custom, sized automatically, and there are POS receipt templates; 4 × 6 labels and thermal sizes are not described. | Every document comes out of the right printer. Each template has a paper size, and the paper size picks the printer, so sheets, 4 × 6 labels and receipts each go to their own. | Choosing a document per order | Not described No rules described. A template can be set to print by default for orders or draft orders, and you can switch template and language when you print. | Yes Print Rules choose which template prints, and on which Print Station, for each order. | Templates | Built from settings panels with fields you show or hide, plus custom Liquid and CSS. Its listing says 30+ templates; its home page says 100+. | No code needed. No limit on the number of templates, on any plan. |

A pick slip covers up to 50 orders. |
| Print history and alerts | Partly A print status column shows which orders were already printed and how many times. Printing alerts are not described. | Yes Know when printing stops. Print History lists the documents queued for your Print Stations, with each job's status. Autoprinter warns you when a Print Station stops picking up jobs, and a Shopify Flow trigger can run when a Print Station goes offline. |
| Document languages | Yes Its documentation says 70+ languages, picked from the billing address. | Yes Six languages built in. Built-in templates print in English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch or Italian and lay out addresses for each destination country. Dates and prices follow the region you choose on every template. The app's own screens are in English. |
| Documents | Invoices, packing slips, refunds, pro forma invoices, credit notes and quotes, with Peppol, ZUGFeRD, Factur-X and XRechnung e-invoices and B2B wholesale invoices. | Packing slips, invoices, pick slips, return slips and gift receipts. Sample templates add sales receipts, kitchen tickets and pickup slips. |
| Shopify Flow and Sidekick | Not described Not described in its listing or documentation. | Yes Works with both. Six Flow actions print an order's Print Chain, packing slip, invoice, return slip or gift receipt, or one pick list for your open orders. Four Flow triggers run when a document prints, a print fails, a Print Station goes offline or you near your monthly order limit. Sidekick answers questions about your order allowance, your printers and what printed. |
| Orders split across locations | Not described Not described in its listing or documentation. | Yes One packing slip per location. An order split across fulfillment locations gets a packing slip for each location, listing only that location's items, or one set for the whole order if you pack in one place. |
| Shopify POS | Its listing says it works with Shopify POS, and its website says you can print receipts or invoices from your point-of-sale system; a POS printing guide is not described. | In-store POS sales print automatically on a Windows or macOS computer at the store (not on the POS device, phone or tablet), for example a kitchen ticket on a receipt printer, with each location's tickets sent to that location's printer. Automatic printing can skip them instead. |
| Printing documents yourself | Yes Click the printer icon on an order, or choose Print by Avada for orders selected in the Shopify orders list; the PDF opens in a new tab for your browser to print, or you download it. | Yes Printing from your browser needs nothing installed: open an order, choose Print → Autoprinter, pick a document, and print the preview like any web page. |
